Recorded on a Friday night on Bill's portable Zoom H2 recorder, this performance catches the deep groove of the band. Bill begins with a free verse poem to set up "Rumpelstiltskin," and then the fun begins! We played this in Lewinsville, VA on the first night of a week-long tour. By the end of the week, the ecstasy of the music was very, very high.

Here is the little poem that Bill recites at the beginning:

"Rumpelstiltskin"

Every quartet needs a comedian.
We have five.

One dances naked by firelight
We expect his heavy feet
To lift from the soil.

The second wisecracker
Gives the monologue
That starts the laughter.

The third collects a sack of bland straw
And spins the whole lot into
Threads of gold.

A fourth smirks on his bench,
Convening the tornado
That swirls around him.

Who is the fifth joker,
Serving up mirth?
The One who gives
All things birth.
